Message Ukraine does not have any moral, historical, or legal rights to the Zaporizhzhya region

Russian media quoted the statement of Volodymyr Rogov, who was appointed to the occupation "administration". He believes that Zaporizhzhia and other settlements of the region were created by Russian tsars, and all this time the territories were in Ukrainian captivity, where they tried to Ukrainianize the people and forced them to forget their "native" Russian language.

Distortion of history is done deliberately to play on the feelings of patriotism of ignorant people, writes the Center for Combating Disinformation at the NSDC. The CPD draws attention to the fact that similar statements are being made more often now, as the occupiers are planning to hold pseudo-referendums.

Disclosure On Instagram and Telegram, fraudsters lure personal data of Ukrainians on behalf of "Monobank"

Fraudsters on behalf of a well-known bank allegedly give 300 hryvnias to each "just like that" as "help in difficult times". To receive money, you need to share information and give your bank card number. On fake Instagram pages, fraudsters include the information "Monobank donates UAH 300" and a link to the Telegram channel in the description. There is only one post on the page (about a supposedly "gift") or none at all. Fraudsters ask to make a story about a fake promotion, post to themselves, and tag a fake page. Next, you need to reset your card number in direct mail and "wait for payment." Fact-checkers of the "Liar" project found 26 fake Instagram pages and 7 Telegram channels. The support service of Monobank confirmed to the fact-checkers that the bank does not give out 300 hryvnias to anyone, and urged them not to provide any data to fraudsters.

Manipulation The Kyiv regime evicts residents of Kramatorsk, cutting them off from water, gas, and electricity

Propaganda media wrote that Ukraine is evicting city residents, and turning off water, gas, and electricity. They said that the Ukrainian authorities are forcefully evicting citizens from the territories where the Russians will soon rule. That's what propagandists call the "forced" evacuation, which the Ukrainian authorities called "mandatory". On August 2, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine issued an order "On the mandatory evacuation of the population of Donetsk region". According to it, mandatory evacuation takes place following the Procedure for Evacuation in the event of the threat of occurrence or emergency occurrence, which was adopted by the government back in 2013. In addition to cases of man-made disasters and natural disasters, the document mentions military conflicts with the clarification that it is about mandatory evacuation from areas of possible hostilities to safe areas. The document prescribes the institution responsible for the evacuation, its order of duty about the territory, payments, and the procedure for resettling the evacuees. The Order does not mention coercion or sanctions against those who refuse to go. In a video message, Volodymyr Zelensky also emphasized that everything depends on people's decisions. Instead, the lack of basic communications in the Donetsk region is a consequence of hostilities, not a method of forced evacuation, as propagandists claim. In particular, problems with gas supply began in May due to intense fighting, MythDetector writes. In July, the mayor of Kramatorsk, Oleksiy Goncharov, explained to the townspeople that they should prepare for a severe winter due to communication problems. As of August 2, according to the local administration, 342 settlements in the Donetsk region remained without electricity. Please note that the words "forced", "forced", and "evicted" used by propagandists are intended to influence the emotional state of the reader.

Fake Propagandists once again accused Ukrainians of self-fire

 According to various versions, the businessman was "cleaned up" by competitors, and he was injured by Ukrainian anti-aircraft fire or mines. The founder and general director of one of the largest Ukrainian agricultural enterprises, "Nibulon", Oleksiy Vadatursky died together with his wife on July 31 as a result of the massive shelling of Mykolaiv by the occupiers. One of the 50 missiles launched by Russia landed in the house. The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Senkevich, said that the shelling was probably "the strongest ever". The "South" operational command specified that on July 31, the shelling was carried out by "Smerch" rocket salvo systems and modified projectiles of enhanced destructive effect against the S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems. The Prosecutor General's Office has launched an investigation into the businessman’s murder. According to StopFake, one version of the investigation is that a Russian projectile was fired purposefully at the businessman's house. According to Vitaly Kim, the head of the Mykolayiv administration, the hit of a Russian rocket in the businessman's house could be accidental, since a military unit was stationed in its place before. As in previous cases of accusations of shelling by the Ukrainian army, at first, the propagandists actively wrote about "denazification" and "liquidation", and later began to spread conspiracy theories. This time about the fact that the murder of an agribusinessman was allegedly beneficial to the Ukrainian authorities.

Disclosure Russia systematically spreads fake news about NATO through the media of occupied Crimea

Human rights defenders of the non-governmental organization "Crimean Tatar Resource Center" researched and presented trends of Russian disinformation about NATO's goals, values, and work in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

There are the following trends:

In April-May 2022, propagandists actively justified the invasion by saying that Ukraine will try to return Crimea by military means if it joins NATO.

In June, the message changed: it is alleged that NATO is unleashing the third world war and "beats Ukraine" to attack Crimea.

In July, propagandists began to say that Russia is already "at war with NATO" not with Ukraine.

Disclosure Eight messages of Russian propaganda against the Ukrainian's mobilization

The Center for Strategic Communications published an analysis of discretization and disruption mobilization measures in Ukraine by Russian propaganda. Propagandists have been doing this since 2014, the Center emphasized.

In particular, the key anti-mobilization messages of propagandists are named:

• military commissars announced a "hunt": summonses are handed out to men of conscription age on the streets, in transport, in shops, and at work;

• after serving the summons, the mobilized are sent to the front without training and medical examination, the mobilized are "cannon fodder";

• only Russian-speakers/Ukrainian-speakers are fighting; only people from the East of Ukraine (while the "Westerners" are "cooling down") / only people from the West (while the "Easterners" are fleeing to the West or abroad) are fighting;

• the wealthy are bought off summonses with bribes; only the poor are mobilized (option: city dwellers avoid mobilization, peasants are “taken away by whole villages”);

• the enemy is stronger, resistance makes no sense;

• women’s military registration is preparation for total mobilization;

• men of conscription age must be released abroad: the ban destroys families and harms the economy;

• you can avoid mobilization thanks to various "schemes" of going abroad.

The propagandists’ goal is to sow doubts about the general mobilization legality, to assure Ukrainians of the selective and unjust mobilization, to normalize various practices of avoiding mobilization, and to undermine the level of trust in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Fake Zelensky ordered to replace the monument to Catherine II in Odesa with a monument to the American porn actor

The Russian media manipulated an electronic petition response on the Ukrainian President’s website. Allegedly, President Zelenskyi gave a positive answer to a petition to replace the monument.

According to StopFake, five similar petitions have been published on the Ukrainian President’s website with a request to demolish the monument to the Russian empress. Two of them collected more than 25 thousand signatures from Ukrainians, and it means that the President had to consider them and give an answer.

The first petition asked to demolish the monument, and the second — to replace it with a statue of Billy Herrington, a pornfilms actor of the 1990s. The President's answers to both petitions are almost the same: he turned request to the Odessa City Council to consider it within its competence. The monument to Catherine II is recognized as a monument of local importance, and only the local authorities can manage its fate.
